While other see the debate over Same Sex Marriage as starting with the Massachusetts ruling in 2000. We know the fight actually began long before that. When we founded Citizens For A Better America® (CFABA.ORG) in 1992 we could see this issue on
the horizon. It hit Hawaii first, we helped defeat it there with our endorsement of State Representative Mark Moses in 1998. It then moved on to other states.
Today we are still in the fight. We still work hard to find candidates to support, as well as work hard to support ballot measures and propositions protecting marriage between one man and one women.
This year we are supporting the following Propositions, Ballot Initiatives and Constitutional Amendments. Follow the links below for more information about what we are doing in your state and what you can do to help these important ballot measures win
on the Nov. 4, 2008 ballot.
Vote "Yes!" on Prop. 8 in California -"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California." For more on this see our "Open Letter to California Christian Pastors and Leaders"
Vote "Yes!" on Prop. 2 in Florida - "This amendment protects marriage as the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife and provides that no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the
substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized." For more on this see our "Open Letter to Florida Christian Pastors and Leaders" below.
Vote "Yes!" on Prop. 102 in Arizona- Proposition 102 would amend the Arizona Constitution to provide that only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.
Vote "Yes!" on Proposed Initiative Act No. 1 in Arkansas - "AN ACT PROVIDING THAT AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS COHABITATING OUTSIDE OF A VALID MARRIAGE MAY NOT ADOPT OR BE A FOSTER PARENT OF A CHILD LESS THAN EIGHTEEN
Arkansas passed Constitutional Amendment No 3 in 2004, which stated that "MARRIAGE CONSISTS ONLY OF THE UNION OF ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN".
